From the Community, For the Community.
My name is Desirae Lewis Jackson and I am your county commissioner for District 5.
In a time where people will try to divide us even further we need strong leadership that will bring us ALL together and work for District 5 to make sure we get the attention and funding from the county we deserve.
There are many issues that are pressing in our District, and I want to be the person to make sure we are all represented. I was honored to be encouraged to run for this office by outgoing Republican Commissioner Earl Reeves. We understand how nasty the political culture is and we do not like how uncivil it has become. We are running for this seat, for your vote, and for your support. We will run a honest and positive campaign and hope that it will be ran on the merits and qualifications of the candidates and not with the nastiness that has plagued the political climate for far too long.
Why qualifications? Because I am the most qualified candidate. I have practiced law for a number of years and have become familiar with county law, an added bonus to my candidacy. I have always been involved in the community, and many of you know me from church choir visits or on the stage with our community theaters. When I am not doing that I am advocating for people who need help, the defenseless, and our youth.
I am from Wetumpka and have lived in District 5 for almost my entire life. I graduated in the top 10% at Wetumpka High School. From there I attended the University of Alabama where I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I then attended Jones School of Law at Faulkner University where I obtained my law degree.
I have owned my own business for years, and am a member of both the Millbrook and Wetumpka Chambers of Commerce. I serve on the Elmore County Medical Board, am President of the Elmore County Bar Association, and a member of advocacy agencies like the Children's Policy Council. I am a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Why is all of this important? We need a Commissioner that doesn't play games, or use politics and political parties to divide us. We need a Commissioner that listens, and knows how to fight for us. We need a Commissioner that knows how to form relationships, communicate, and work for all of her constituents. Together we will make it happen. Vote Desirae Lewis Jackson for County Commissioner.
